See our disclaimer. Like his co-workers, Bransome takes flight, discovering that his sudden recollection leads to an enemy spy ring and a powerful new weapon"-- Something bizarre is happening among the government workers at weapons laboratories across the United States. Increasing numbers of employees are abandoning their jobs for no apparent reason, some of them committing suicide, others trading their high-profile, specialized careers for unskilled jobs in obscure towns. The details awaken Bransome's suppressed memory of a similar crime that he committed years before. The Mindwarpers (aka With a Strange Device)
Intriguing idea about an insidious plot against America's top scientists, who start disappearing one by one from laboratories. Turns out they have just remembered that they committed a terrible crime and need to run - very quickly. This is not Russell at his best - that would be Wasp - but it is an enjoyable story if you don't try to apply too much logic to it.
While it really shouldn't be labeled as science fiction, it does fit in with the general paranoia in Wasp and to a much greater extent in his novel Sinister Barrier. Language English.

Ballard, Ray Bradbury to Pat Cadigan, Tom McCarthy to James Morrow—these and other writers in the field have in some way expressed a wariness at technological change and its impact, intended and unintended, on people and society. The quantity of such fiction dropping since the days vast and quick technological change first threatened, change has almost become the norm.
Republished as an ebook in by Dover Publications , the message at its heart, however, transcends time. Richard Bransome works for one of the most advanced science research laboratories in the country.
